Colorado attorney Michael D. Evans is ranked in the Top 40 Under 40 Criminal Defense Lawyers and has been recognized nationally and knows how to craft strong and compelling cases for the clients he represents. With a proven 10-year track record of success in over 90 jury trials and helping thousands of people, most importantly, we have many satisfied clients.

You cannot safely discuss the situation with anyone but your attorney, because the statements that you make could end up being used against you as evidence, or even construed as a confession. See our F.A.Q. page. You should at all costs avoid speaking with anyone from the police department or the office of the district attorney. This is true even if they approach you with a friendly demeanor and suggest that by being cooperative you can make the situation go away.

Remember: Their job is to solve crimes and convict people, and right now they are looking at you as their suspect. It is you versus the State of Colorado, and the odds are stacked against you. By hiring The Evans Firm to represent you in your case, you can put a heavyweight in your corner. Let us put our skills and experience to work for you.

Attorney Michael D. Evans has a proven track record having handled thousands of criminal cases for people in situations similar to your own. He has been featured nationally in publications and media including TIME Magazine, The New York Times, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, MSN, NPR, The Denver Post, CPR, The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, and many others and knows how to get the best results possible - which has resulted in having many satisfied clients with an A+ rating with the BBB, a 10/10 AVVO rating, and 2015 Client's Choice Award.

How soon do you need a criminal defense lawyer?

Whenever possible, we urge our clients to retain our services at the earliest opportunity, even if you have not yet been contact by the police. If you have reason to believe that you may be under investigation for a crime, you should speak with us and get us involved to intervene on your behalf. By doing so, you make it possible for us to contact the law enforcement agency and seek to resolve the situation without an arrest.

Sometimes we can clear up confusions, such as if our client has been mistakenly identified as the suspect in an investigation. In other cases, we may be able to negotiate to have the investigation dropped. If a loved one has already been arrested, you should hire us right now so that we can appear at the arraignment and advise your family member of his or her rights.

We can argue for a low amount for bail or perhaps even an own-recognizance release so that the person can get out of jail without posting bail. If you have already been released after being charged with a crime, you should retain our services immediately so that we can begin working on a strategy for your defense. After reviewing the evidence, or lack thereof, we may be able to press the prosecutor to dismiss the charges, or to negotiate for a favorable plea bargain.
